GENBAND SIP Trunking Enables Money Transfer Across the Globe

Microsoft Lync SIP Trunk Connectivity

Microsoft Lync (Microsoft Lync has been rebranded Skype for Business) is widely deployed yet most organizations are using Lync clients only for instant messaging, presence and directory access. Lync conversations are limited to other internal Lync users or with a few trusted external partners via Lync Federation.

To extend Lync’s value, GENBAND has developed solutions that enable users to securely make and receive calls from their Lync/Skype for Business client via the public telephone network, supplementing or replacing their existing PBX. Lync servers are connected to a communications service provider via Direct SIP trunks, secured by GENBAND's Session Border Controllers (SBC). GENBAND SBCs also provide SIP interworking to assure that services are delivered consistently across locations or between Lync and multiple PBX platforms.

Lync SIP Trunk Qualification (SIP Trunk to the PSTN)

Direct SIP trunks connected to Lync via GENBAND Session Border Controllers have been tested and qualified by Microsoft under its Unified Communications Open Interoperability Program.

Lync SBC Integration Advantages:

  • GENBAND SBCs are deployed in some of the largest communications networks in the world so their reliability and scale for enterprises are well proven.
  • GENBAND supports extensive, on-going interoperability testing with a wide variety of PBXs and contact centers to minimize potential issues in a multi-site, multi-vendor environment.
  • GENBAND’s unique network-wide licensing assures that users are not paying for unused license capacity with each branch deployment.
  • Part of a complete solution, works in concert with GENBAND's application server, C20 Call Controller, and in CS 2100 deployments. The solution unifies policy and features across multiple sites.
  • Enterprises can leverage Remote Call Control (RCC) to maintain the reliability of their voice infrastructure while adding click-to-dial services in Lync 2010 and Lync 2013
